23 April is the birthday of Indian Social Reformer, Pandita Ramabai Sarasvati - the founder of Pandita Ramabai Mukti Mission in India. Her compassion for child widows, people affected by famine, the underprivileged and uneducated, especially women and girls, led her to start Maharashtra's first kindergarten, soon followed by larger schools, a hospital, and a safe haven for thousands. It's now 131 years since she founded this humanitarian organisation, which continues to this day to provide education, training, dignity and loving homes for thousands of women and children. We celebrate her birthday and salute her memory.
At Pandita Ramabai Mukti Mission we believe that lives of individuals, no matter how broken or shattered, can be Rebuilt, Restored and Renewed!
