The Farm is like raising a small child from birth. In previous years, everyone watched and asked – ‘Why are these acres not being used?’ Now they say: ‘Wow!’ as they see the greenery spreading across the vast Mukti acreage. Even the local villagers are happy, sharing with us in their feelings of awe and joy.
Today we are able to utilize 90% of the wells – their water has been tested pure. In the past, electricity was a big problem, preventing fields and crops from being watered. Today, a portable generator gives us electricity for our pumps whenever and where needed!
Acreage that lay fallow for decades, covered with giant thorn bushes, is now lush and green with crops like Sugarcane, Wheat, Jowar and Maize. A large vegetable garden provides much-needed produce on a weekly basis.
Fencing has been installed in many areas, preventing encroachments by humans, wandering animals and vehicles. Pandita Ramabai Mukti Mission’s farm is managed by Farm Manager Ishwar Dass.
PRMM Farm Manager Ishwar Dass was in Western Australia on a three month Rotary scholarship to learn about regenerative farming. His learning and the knowledge he will take back to PRMM is expected to produce lots of healthy eggs for the PRMM residents to enjoy. Thanks to the Armadale Rotary Club in Western Australia for supporting Dass with a Royce & Jean Abby Scholarship, enabling him to receive the best training from sustainable farming expert Ron Watkins.
